The Hills Are Alive!
A Benefit for Corbie & Rachel Hill
The Station // Sunday, October 14th, 2018 // 3PM

In summer 2017, Pittsboro journalist, magazine editor and musician Corbie Hill ended up with a surprise leukemia diagnosis. He was 35. Rachel, his wife and partner in all things since these two were teenagers, had his back.

In an instance of bafflingly cruel synergy, it was Rachel’s turn in summer 2018. She ended up with breast cancer – also at 35 – and Corbie had her back. And their children now had not one, but two parents with cancer.

If recovery was only a question of personal resilience and modern medicine, these two would be fine. A year’s worth of treatments has brought Corbie’s leukemia under control, while a double mastectomy in August significantly decreased Rachel’s threat of recurrence. The Hills are alive, but their hospital bills are piling up.
